A hashtag takeover to educate parents
April is National Child Abuse Prevention month, and the Child Rescue Coalition, a nonprofit that works with law enforcement agencies to track, arrest and prosecute child predators, wants to educate parents about the risks of overexposing their kids on social media. The @kidsforprivacy movement is taking over more than 100 hashtags on Instagram–including #pottytraining and #bathtime–with kids holding “Privacy Please” signs. The campaign includes a 60-second video, as well as a hub on Instagram @kidsforprivacy. There, parents can learn about the dangers of exposing their kids on social media, as well as tips and info on how to protect their kids’ online privacy.
